Accessibility Statement

Last updated 20/05/2025

Matteo Bordoni is committed to making matteobordoni.it accessible to as many people as possible, regardless of ability, assistive technology or browsing context.

1. Commitment to accessibility

This site is developed with the goal of conforming to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, as defined by the W3C. Accessibility is treated as an integral part of the design process, not an add-on.

2. Measures taken

The following measures have been implemented to improve accessibility:

  • Semantic HTML structure with ARIA landmark elements (header, main, nav, footer)
  • Skip link to jump directly to main content, visible during keyboard navigation
  • Full keyboard navigation (Tab, Shift+Tab, Enter, Escape)
  • Sufficient colour contrast in both modes — light (#0A0A0A on #FAFAFA) and dark
  • Text alternatives for decorative SVG elements (aria-hidden) and aria-label attributes for interactive elements
  • Correct lang attribute for all three supported languages (it, en, ja)
  • Respect for the reduced-motion preference (prefers-reduced-motion) via CSS media query
  • Readable and scalable font sizes; no text embedded in images
  • Custom cursor automatically disabled on touch devices and replaced by the system cursor

3. Known limitations

The custom cursor is not available on touch devices (expected behaviour; the system cursor is fully functional). Scroll-reveal animations are automatically disabled when the user has set the "Reduce Motion" preference in their operating system.

4. Supported technologies

The site has been verified with the following technologies and combinations:

  • Modern browsers: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge (current versions)
  • Keyboard navigation on desktop
  • Text zoom up to 200% without loss of content or functionality
  • Mobile devices (iOS Safari, Chrome Android)

5. Feedback and contact

To report accessibility barriers, request content in an alternative format or provide feedback, write to: [email protected].

6. Conformance level

This site aims for WCAG 2.1 Level AA conformance. Continuous improvement is the goal: any reported issues are assessed and addressed in subsequent development iterations.
